Rice enquiries should identify whether the buyer needs basmati rice, non-basmati rice, parboiled rice, steamed rice, raw rice, broken rice, or a named variety. Basmati is usually selected for aroma, grain length, elongation, and premium food service or retail positioning. Non-basmati varieties are often selected for daily consumption, institutional supply, food service, and value-focused markets.

The buyer should specify grain length, broken percentage, moisture, crop year preference, ageing requirement, polishing level, sortex cleaning, and whether the shipment needs branded retail packs or bulk bags.

Rice packaging can range from 1 kg retail bags to 5 kg, 10 kg, 25 kg, and 50 kg bags. Importers selling into supermarkets may require printed consumer packs, while wholesalers often prefer PP or BOPP bags with strong stitching and clear batch details.

Packaging choices affect cost, loading quantity, label compliance, and shelf presentation. Buyers should confirm language, barcode, nutrition panel, importer details, and any local food labelling requirements before artwork approval.

A rice quote should be supported by basic quality parameters such as moisture, broken percentage, average grain length, foreign matter, damaged grains, chalky grains, and cooking characteristics where applicable. For private label or repeat supply, buyers may also request pre-shipment inspection and batch photos.
